Princess Kate wears jewelry to pay tribute to the Queen of England

Princess Kate Middleton wore earrings and a necklace given to her by the Queen at her funeral.

The Princess of Wales arrived at Westminster Abbey in the morning with her two children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Queen Camilla. She wore a black dress jacket by Alexander McQueen, combined with Gianvito Rossi suede shoes, matching veil and Philip Treacy hat.

The highlight of the look lies in the teardrop earrings and choker necklace made of Bahraini pearls and diamonds. The jewelry was worn by the Queen of England at her wedding in 1947 and at a dinner party in 1983 in Bangladesh.

The design is part of the jewelry set as a wedding gift of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1947 for future generations. Princess Diana once wore them to a party at Hampton Court Palace during a state visit by Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus of the Netherlands. At the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral in 2021, Princess Kate Middleton also used this accessory set.

Like her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle wore pearl and diamond drop earrings to pay homage to her husband’s grandmother. The Queen gave them to Meghan to commemorate their first private outing in 2018. During the funeral, the Duchess of Sussex wore a black dress by Stella McCartney and a wide-brimmed hat designed by Stephen Jones for Dior.

Queen Camilla did not wear a single item from Queen Elizabeth II’s personal collection, but she did choose the Hesse Diamond Jubilee brooch. The heart-shaped pin, studded with three blue sapphires, with the number 60 in diamonds, once belonged to Queen Victoria.

Princess Charlotte – Princess Kate’s daughter – wore her first important piece of jewelry to her great-grandmother’s funeral. To honor the Queen’s love of horses, the seven-year-old wears a diamond horseshoe brooch on her left breast. According to People, the design is a gift from Queen Elizabeth II to the princess.

About a million people flocked to London to witness the Queen’s coffin procession in London, before she was taken to her final resting place. The funeral ceremony began at 7:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. September 20, Hanoi time) under the chairmanship of Windsor Dean David Conner, with the participation of King Charles III and family members. The Queen’s coffin was buried next to her husband – Prince Philip – at the King George VI Memorial Chapel, which is also the resting place of her father, mother and sister.

Britain ended 10 days of national mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8 in Scotland at the age of 96. She has reigned for more than 70 years, the longest-serving monarch in British history.
