Discovery of a 3,000-year-old tomb on the northern plateau of Peru

Archaeologists have just excavated an ancient tomb in Northern Peru that may be the burial tomb of a religious dignitary about 3,000 years ago.
The Peruvian Ministry of Culture said the remains buried in the grave were named “Pacoampadi area clergy” – the highland area where the above tomb was discovered.
This cleric was buried under six layers of ash mixed with black soil, along with many decorative ceramic bowls and ancient ritualistic seals on his body that were used by people of high status in society. festival.
Scientists also discovered two distinctive seals along the top edge of the tomb. Among them, one seal resembles a human face facing East, the other has the image of a jaguar and faces West.
Project leader archaeologist Yuji Seki said the ancient tomb was “unusually large,” with a diameter of nearly 2 meters and a depth of 1 meter. In addition, the body was buried in a very special position, lying on its stomach, with its feet crossed.
On the remains, archaeologists also found a tupu – a large pin used by Native Americans in the Andes mountains to pin their cloaks. However, tupu is often used by women.
According to archaeologist Seki, although the person buried in the tomb was male, the things related to this person were very special and this could have been a leader of his time.
According to the Peruvian Ministry of Culture, the results of the examination of the stone layers of the tomb showed that this priest may have been buried around 1200 BC. This newly excavated tomb belongs to the Pacoampa archaeological project that has been implemented in this area since 2005./.
