Advanced Marine Services, the company that discovered the ark, is applying for a license to salvage it from inside the Nazi ship SS Minden sunk at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, according to Mirror. The mysterious chest can contain gold worth up to 130 million USD.

The SS Minden is believed to have been carrying gold from banks in South America to Germany when it sank in September 1939. The ship was then stopped by the British Royal Navy. Crew members punctured the ship’s hull to prevent Britain from seizing it, just weeks after World War II broke out.

Advanced Marine Services wants to bring the trunk back to England because it believes that the contents inside the trunk belong to the person who discovered it. They are waiting for Icelandic authorities to decide which side owns the shipwreck SS Minden.
