During an underwater diving expedition in a natural cove near the ancient port city, Shlomi Katzin discovered a remarkable find. The Crusaders had captured this city from the Arabs in the early 12th century AD and it served as the backdrop for its discovery. This coastal site, which has survived as a safe haven for ships seeking shelter from the elements for millennia, has been actively used since the Late Bronze Age, approximately 4,000 years ago, as evidenced by archaeological artifacts.
