TTO – Archaeologists have found in a Thracian tomb in Bulgaria a treasure trove of gold and silver, this is considered the largest treasure of a Thracian king ever discovered in Bulgaria.
But the artefact belongs to the ancient Thracians, who lived in what is now Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, Turkey and Greece and dates to the 5th century BC.

This tomb has a 13m long corridor leading to three rooms. Archaeologist Georgi Kitov and his team discovered the large granite bedroom of the Thracian kings located in the south of Bulgaria. This room is filled with jewelry made of gold, silver, bronze, and handmade ceramics, including three large amphora jars of wine.

“Some of the gold ornaments were engraved with images unknown to Thracian art such as a deer head with horns, an angry lion and a black man with palm trees. They I didn’t have enough time to research it, but the first impressions surprised us. Unfortunately, we couldn’t test the taste of the wine in those jars because it had evaporated,” Kitov said.

Since 2000 archaeologists have begun to search for information about the Thracian culture known in the oldest regions of Europe. The Thracians did not leave any behind
