Digging on a deserted island, discovering treasure from a 2,400-year-old pirate king ​

Greek archaeologists claim they have found a vast archaeological treasure trove on an uninhabited island in the Aegean Sea, including a magnificent basilica.
Excavations by the Greek Ministry of Culture have helped many ancient structures gradually appear on the deserted island. The most prominent is a building built as a fortress to protect the island, inside there are many antiques including a mysterious stone inscription about the most famous owner of the fortress – the infamous pirate king Glauketis. , which was active in the 4th century BC.

The inscriptions say that the pirate king Glauketis at that time received strong support from many residents in the area, but was eventually defeated by the Athenian government. During his illustrious time, he dominated this island and many neighboring islands.

The fortress consists of 15 spacious rooms inside giant stone walls, and is also the gateway to an important seaport. Its builder was the ancient Byzantine empire.

In addition to the pirate king, many people from different empires ruled on this island continuously from the 12th century BC to the 7th century AD, when epidemics forced the last inhabitants to leave. off the island.

Another special, older structure was also found nearby: a basilica that was certainly once very splendid. The cathedral’s stone walls are mainly taken from previous buildings, but many structures are invested with expensive materials. An altar and many marble supporting columns were found.

In the two above-mentioned works, people also found many precious antiques, most of which were ceramic pieces.

Archaeologists emphasize that research has only just begun, although enough has been discovered to show that the island is an extremely valuable archaeological treasure. Many other excavations are being prepared to fully reveal to the world what this deserted island has long hidden.
