Animals, like humans, can have distinctive traits that set them apart. However, being unique should not be a source of condemnation. Siri, an adorable dog who found herself in a shelter, exemplified this.
The owners gave a three-year-old dog named Siri to the SPCA shelter in the United States. The reason was that the dog allegedly started to conflict with another family dog. Instead of somehow solving this problem and attracting a specialist, people simply took the dog to a shelter.
Siri has one unique feature — because of the shape of her face, she seems to be constantly sad. So it was when she was brought to the shelter, but with the months that the dog spent in the shelter, the expression on her face became sadder and sadder… Siri did not understand why she was alone here and why she was left.
All employees of the shelter immediately fell in love with this cute creature. Despite the sad face, Siri was full of love and affection. Her health was all right, so they immediately started looking for new owners for her. However, it turned out to be not as easy as the employees expected.
In 13 months at the shelter, no one ever took Siri home. Eleven people were interested in her, but all ended up with only a few questions about the dog. The staff suggested that most likely in such cases people are scared off by the dog’s unusual muzzle, so they don’t want to take the «wrong» dog.
But Siri doesn’t give up. She still shows her love and gratitude, and hopes to find the most loving family that will accept her for who she is! Employees are actively looking for owners for her.
«Siri is a wonderful girl. She is not particularly energetic, and finds joy in chewing toys, treats and hugs. It is simple things that make her happy,» employees say.
