Chests containing millions of dollars are hidden across the United States.
The organizers of Blackbeard Treasure (Blackbeard’s Treasure – the name of a notorious British pirate, operating in the West Indies) said there are 10 chests. Each box contains one million dollars hidden in 10 states: California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. The organizer also introduced this as the largest and only treasure hunt in the world.
This “hunt” will be filmed in a reality TV show titled The Hunt for Blackbeard’s Treasure. The filming team started filming on November 28. To participate in this “getting rich is not difficult” race, participants must be 16 years of age or older and must purchase a digital map showing the location of the treasure for 49.99 USD.

Each chest, in addition to containing money, also has a locator beacon and a hidden camera so organizers will know immediately when someone finds the treasure. Accordingly, currently only two people know where these chests are hidden: the company founder and a leader from their accounting firm.
The organizing committee has not yet announced the expiration date of the search period. However, they said that every two weeks they will provide additional clues to make their search easier for treasure hunters. This information will be provided regularly until the loot is found. The organizers recommend bringing a shovel, flashlight, compass and phone when looking for loot.
A Blackbeard Treasure representative said the official website providing information about this search is having problems. Anyone who purchased the map before August 10 will receive a refund. Some people expressed doubts about the legitimacy and integrity of the competition. However, Blackbeard Treasure has not answered related questions when contacted by the press for an interview.
