A gold hunter claims to have found the UK’s largest nugget, weighing 121.3 grams, in a river in Scotland.

The metal block, found in two pieces and named the “Unified Gold,” was discovered by a treasure hunter in May.

Weighing approximately 121.3g, this 22-carat gold nugget is the largest discovery in the UK. The special thing is that it has a small hole in the middle and is divided into two pieces, but when put together they fit together perfectly.

Mr. Lee Palmer – author of the book “The Appearance of Gold in England”, had the opportunity to interview the mysterious man who discovered this nugget of gold while researching his book – said: ” When you look at it you will see it is shaped like a donut.”

If proven to be from Scotland, the precious metal nugget would surpass the “Douglas Gold Nugget”, which weighed 85.7 grams and was found in 2016, to become the largest nugget found in Britain.

Both the name of the person who found this nugget and the owner of the land where it was discovered are being kept secret because of the enormous value of the nugget.

Mr. Palmer hopes this nugget will be purchased by the National Museum of Scotland or the British Natural History Museum for display, but legally, this nugget may have to be handed over to The Crown Estate – an application which brings together rare assets in the UK territories of England, Wales and Northern Ireland as a single entity, turning it into “sovereign public property”.
