A group of men from Russia worked in one of the African countries, in Liberia, and the dog Sharik was their guard and friend at the same time.
On this continent, dogs are very rare and are known only as a means of food. Sharik was also one of them and his fate was a foregone conclusion, but the Russians ransomed him and warned the local residents not to steal him, and if someone offends Sharik, it will be unpleasant for him.
The ball grew healthy and affectionate, was friends with chickens and for a long time did not even try to attack one of them, on the contrary, he protected from wild birds, scaring them off with his barking and the dog became a real favorite of men.
And one day Sharik managed to save one of the workers, Anatoly, from a snakebite. At that time, he was talking on the phone and suddenly heard a dog barking from behind, turning around, he saw a dangerous snake right next to him.
But the dog barked and distracted the attention and the snake attacked her and rescued Anatoly. For her courage, she was immediately given a triple portion of goodies. But by the morning the men saw that Sharik was sad and lethargic, they thought he had the plague, when in the evening the dog got worse and gave him antibiotics.
By the fourth day, he began to weaken and hide from people and gradually realized that the dog was ending its days from being bitten by a snake. It was impossible to find a veterinarian in Africa, and ordinary doctors were rare there.
They were uncomfortable that Sharik had sacrificed himself, and they could not help. The ball waddled heavily to the pipes, and there he hid from his masters. By morning, the dog was no longer visible and was not found. The dog, as dogs usually do, sensing the imminent exodus, went away from everyone.
